We already know that T-Rivera is all about swimwear for the grown, sexy and curvy woman, but the swimwear line created by Love and Hip Hop Atlanta star Tammy Rivera has recently become the place to find stylish plus-size swimsuits, T-PLUS!
We caught up with Tammy and she shared with BET.COM exclusively why she created her plus-size line:
“To be honest, I have a lot of family members who are plus size, like my little sister, my and niece who was a model for my plus-size line,” says Tammy.
“And then I have a lot of full figured women who keep coming to me and they’re like, ‘Listen, we want something too! We want to be fly and sexy.’ So I started searching and I saw swimsuits that were catering to full-figured women, but they were always in black and white or they covered the bottoms with a skirt — very old and grandma looking,” she further explains.
“I knew that I could take these pieces from the regular line and alter them. So I had my sisters try on one of the standard pieces and I made alterations. I bought the cuts down, I bought the back [of the swimsuit] up, and made sure I doubled the material to tuck them in the right places and gave them what they want.”
So what did she think of the overall result? “I love it! I am more excited about the plus-size line than I was for the regular one!” Tammy chuckles.
YAAASSS, Tammy! We are completely here for it! We love the idea that full-size women can have options for swimwear that is not only chic but also created to accentuate her curves.
“I come from a family where they are confident and beautiful. They still dress fly. Yeah, everyone thinks if you are full figured you want to be covered and you are ashamed of your body. Hell no! Some people love their bodies! My sister was thick since she was a baby, I couldn’t imagine her being skinny, you know what I’m saying?” she expresses.

The reaction to the swimwear has been huge and everyone is LIT about the new line.
“I’ve been getting nothing but positive feedback! I have been hearing that the plus line needs a little more variety. The reason why I only [recreated] the three one pieces that I also have on the standard line was because I wanted to test the waters first. This is my first time venturing into that lane. I didn’t want to jump out and go crazy. Once I see that the feedback is great that is when I am going to expand it and make sure that I have everything in the standard line on the plus size line as well,” Tammy said excitedly.
