Online shopping. Love it, especially swimwear! Planned a holiday anytime soon? Or is it (always) summer in your country? Maybe you just did a grande-closet-clean-session? Or are you just like me and you’re often on the lookout for new kini? Here are some TIPS to choose your swimwear online. Please leave a comment if you got any additional tips!
- Always check the style/cut of the bikini you want to buy. Apart from whether it’s a halter or bandeau top, make sure to check how much coverage the bottom has and if has a ruched back for example. Sometimes details are not very visible on the pictures so make sure to check all the specifications.
- Not only check the brand’s size table, but also the size that the model is wearing in the picture and her measurements. It’s really helpful to get you an indication. If the model’s measurements are not mentioned on the site don’t hesitate to contact customer service. They’re more than willing to help!
- What kind of material do you prefer in swimwear? Nowadays it seems like they make a bikini out of almost everything! But as you’ll see online most of the bikinis are made from a combination of polyamide and elastane. Good to know: the more elastane in a bikini the more elastic it is and tighter around your body. And the more polyamide in a bikini the less it crinkles!
- Check both the product images as the brand’s campaign images because the colors may differ in both pictures. This happens more than you think unfortunately and if you double check up front you’ll avoid disappointment later on.
- If you’re buying from a multi-brand web shop I recommend to always check the brands’ website too. Even if they don’t have a webshop but only show campaign images on their site. The reason for this is that the brand wants to display a certain image with specific models and look & feel that a multi-brand web shop can’t always convey in the same way. This means that the same bikini may seem very different.
DONT FORGET… the models in the pictures have been retouched and have perfect exposure. Unfortunately, that’s not the situation when you try on the bikini for the first time at home. Because you are a real woman with real skin.
